Labasa Mill

This mill commenced crushing in 1894. Like Lautoka and Rarawai Mills, it was also built by the CSR Co Ltd.

With the decision to expand cane production to the Seaqaqa Plateau, this mill had to be significantly expanded and modernized to increase its crushing capacity from under half million tonnes cane to 1.2 million tonnes cane in a season.

The FSC has spent $37m to completely change the face of this mill. New equipment includes modern boilers, a complete new feeding station and a new first crushing mill, additional evaporators, pans, condensers, etc.  New Port facilities were also built at Malau and the outmoded system of transporting sugar and molasses by river barges was replaced by modern fleet of road transport with dog trailers.

A new 27,000 tonne bulk sugar shed was also built at Malau.
