The Corporate Training Department was originally located at Rarawai Mill before being moved to Lautoka in 1975 to coincide with the Harbridge House Management training in that year. Training activities was decentralized in 2003 where mills were responsible for organizing and conducting their own training. However, in 2005, training was re-centralized, where all training initiatives were coordinated by the Corporate Training Department.
The building in which the Training Centre is located, was the constructed in the early 1900’s as a branch of the Bank of New South Wales. It was converted to become the Research Centre in 1958
Apart from training mill worker, CSR also operated a training farm at Drasa for Fijian cane growers from 1938 – 1967.
The key role of the Corporate Training Department is to work with mills and departments to ensure that are competent workers at all levels of the workforce by engaging them in training and capacity building programs which could be either conducted at the Training Centre or at their respective work places.
The Corporate Training Department is also responsible for administering the Apprenticeship program.
